I always knew Eric would be a wonderful father, but it is so fun to watch Tateym and him together. She absolutely adores him and lights up whenever he holds her and plays with her. I know she’s only 10 weeks old, but it amazes me how much they interact with one another. One thing that we’ve just discovered is how Tateym likes to watch football games with her daddy. I of course have to dress her up in the proper atire before a big game and then Eric holds, rocks, and feeds her while he watches the game. The silly thing is, she always turns her head towards the TV and is glued the entire game. Eric can hardly get her to look at him. Anyway she is a true blue Cougar fan. Needless to say both Tateym and Eric were very upset when BYU lost their last game.
It was an exciting day for Tateym yesterday, as she attended church for the very first time. Now, I know what you’re all thinking: “Isn’t she 2 months old already? Shouldn’t she have been to church by now?” To that I say yes, she is 2 months old, and yes, she should have been to church already, but she hadn’t. For the first month we didn’t dare take her anywhere public, then the weeks after that we had good intentions of making it but something would always happen (such as not sleeping on a Saturday night). But why am I explaining myself to you? We’re good people, I swear!
So the day started out well. Tateym woke up at just the right time, had her bath, and was all dolled up just in time for church. Then, as if that wasn’t good enough, she fell asleep in her car seat before we even had her in the car. It was all going so perfectly as we sat down in the chapel, our little baby fast asleep and quiet as a mouse. Then came the opening hymn and her eyes popped wide open. She stared around with a look of “Where am I, and why on earth is everyone singing?” Wide-eyed as she was though, she stayed pretty quiet throughout the meeting.
During Sunday School she got a bottle and a diaper change, and was all comfy and ready for Natalie to take her to Relief Society and show her off. From there, Natalie describes it thusly: “I walked in, got a bunch of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’, the lesson began, and Tateym started screaming. I then spent the rest of the day in the Mothers’ Lounge, which smelled like poopy diapers.” And so ended Tateym’s first day at church.
All-in-all it was a good experience. The ward members were very happy for us and she got lots of compliments on how adorable she is. I think we both gained a greater appreciation for what our parents went through getting us to church week after week.
Tateym, our sweet baby girl, turned 2 months old today! She’s growing up so fast, we can’t believe she’s already 2 months old. We took her in for her checkup and are happy to say she’s as healthy as can be. Here are the stats for those who are interested:
- Weight: 11 lbs. 5 oz. (65.51 percentile)
- Height: 23 1/4 in. (83.3 percentile)
- Head: 38.2 cm. (36.01 percentile)
The checkup went really well, but her immunization shots were probably the saddest thing we’ve ever seen. The second she got stuck with the first needle her expression turned to one of complete shock, then quickly broke into the saddest cry we’ve ever heard. She’s doing much better though after getting a lot of love and attention from Mommy and Daddy.
We know blogs are meant to keep people up to date on current events, but we have a whole back-log of events that we need to get caught up on. The most significant one, of course, is the adoption of our beautiful little daughter, Tateym. For those who haven’t heard the story, or for those who like to hear it again and again, we thought we’d post it so everyone can hear how this little miracle came about. So the other day I put Tateym on the ground for some tummy time. I got up to grab something off the bed, and when I turned back around she was laying on her back. I put her back on her stomach again, and sure enough, she rolled right back over onto her back. Now, I realize the big one is going from back to stomach, but for a 6 week old baby, we thought that was pretty impressive. Anyway, we tried to get her to do it one more time and capture it on video. She didn’t do it again, but we thought the video was cute so I’m posting it anyway. 🙂
