The Gibbsters

A glimpse into the life and times of the Gibby family

This is the place you come to for answers to all the questions you frequently ask yourself about our site. How do we know what questions are being frequently asked? Well, we don’t. This is really just a guess at some of the questions that might come up.

Question: Why can’t I see much content on your site?

Answer: Are you logged in? We’re shy people and don’t like to publish all our business for the world to see. To see all the content on our site, register for a user account then log in and see all there is to see. If you are logged in and still wondering why you can’t see much content, give it time … we’re still working on it.

Question: How do I change the icon next to comments I’ve posted?

Answer: To set your icon (or avatar for those who are web savvy), click the Profile link,  then scroll down to where it says Avatar Upload. From there you can select a file on your computer by clicking the Browse button, and upload it by clicking the Update Profile button. Alternatively, this blog supports Globally Recognized Avatars, or Gravatars. This allows you to associate an avatar with your email address, so you will have the same avatar when posting on any site that supports Gravatars. You can setup your own Gravatar at gravatar.com. If both of those methods seem way too complicated, you can also just send us the image you would like to use and we’ll change it for you on our site.

Question: Does this site look better in a certain web browser?

Answer: Absolutely! This site looks best in Firefox. We use some style elements that are not supported by Internet Explorer. It still works, it just doesn’t look as nice.

Question: What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Answer: What do you mean? An African or European swallow? (Actually, it’s approximately 24 miles per hour according to this article.)
