… And they lived happily ever after!

On August 8, 2008, an angel gave our family the greatest gift we could ever imagine–our beautiful baby girl, Tateym. To take a trip back in time and remember that event you can check out this post. At that moment in time, life seemed perfect. Little did we know of the roller coaster that lie ahead. After nearly 2 1/2 years of grueling legal battles, the Utah State Supreme Court finally brought it all to an end when they denied the case from going any further.

On December 27, 2010, we were able to finalize Tateym’s adoption. What an amazing late Christmas present that was! Two weeks later, on January 9, 2011, we met at my parents’ house with a small group of family and friends for Tateym’s baby blessing. It was a beautiful, spiritual experience as we were able to share our testimonies with our loved ones and give our little girl the blessing we’d been longing to give her for years. Then a week later, on January 15, 2011, we were able to take our precious little sweetheart to the Salt Lake Temple, where we were sealed as a family for all eternity. Words can’t describe the joy we felt at that moment.

Below is a compilation of audio, video, and pictures for you to share in our incredible experience.

Here is an audio recording of the finalization hearing (thanks to our good friend, Aubrey Howell, for the covert work with her camera in the courtroom):

  1. I can’t believe this turned out to be such a difficult ordeal. But it was obviously worth it. Julie and I are so happy for your little family. I was about to say “Tateym is so lucky to have you two” but the reality is that you guys are so lucky to have her, huh? We are so stoked for your eternal family.

  2. What a wonderful story! Brings tears to my eyes! She sure belongs with you guys! What a wonderful little family! She sure is a special little girl! I’m so happy for you guys!

  3. Thanks guys! It was certainly more than we ever expected to go through, but absolutely worth it. We are definitely very lucky to have her. 🙂

  4. ha! I love that you called my work in the courtroom ‘covert’ instead of illegal! I was sweating bullets, but couldn’t help myself! It was too historic a moment….too bad I couldn’t get footage to go with it. 😉 Love all the pictures, loved that DAY! Thanks again for letting me be a part of it!

  5. This video has become even more precious now that we live 600 miles away. What a beautiful day it was and I’m so glad we were able to be there.
